But the player is privately hoping he has landed a big move before then with Juventus and Everton now heading the chase to sign the French international.
Sissoko will have been keeping a keen eye on Gini Wijnaldum’s exit strategy at Newcastle, and has already made it clear he intends to follow him out of the door with a series of interviews declaring he wants to leave. Sissoko is currently on extended leave after helping France reach the final of Euro 2016.
When asked about Sissoko, Rafa Benitez said : “Moussa is due to report back on August 1. He will report back like everybody else has, and then we will go from there.
“We will see him on the first of August, but until then it is not really worth talking about anything because he is not here.”
Newcastle are expected to replace both Sissoko and Wijnaldum if both deals are completed and they have also landed Grant Hanley from Blackburn Rovers after a three week pursuit of the Ewood Park captain.
Benitez is now preparing his squad for the trip to Belgium for Saturday’s game with Sporting Lokeren.
