The Sunderland boss is desperate to land the striker, released from his contract at Portsmouth this week, to re-create the famous Manchester United strike force of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke.

The Sunday People are reporting that Cole would be willing to make the move to the Stadium of Light despite playing early in his career for the Black Cats' arch-rivals Newcastle.
Cole, 36, feels he has at least one season left him in at the top flight.
