Reports from both St James' Park AND Barcelona suggest a deal for Eidur Gudjohnsen is looking likely, and will be sealed if Oba Martins fails to commit himself the cause at Newcastle.
The Newcastle United boss is ready to move for the Barcelona striker and The Mirror says Allardyce is on red alert after Barcelona put Gudjohnsen up for sale for £6m.
Barca sporting director Txiki Begirstain admits Gudjohnsen could leave after the club's spending spree which has seen Thierry Henry brought in.
Gudjohnsen has a contract until 2010 and insists he does not want to leave Barcelona, which you would expect, but his agent is making noises suggesting he would be happy to return to the Premiership.
Which is the way things work in Spain, and the player (having not suggested he wants to leave) gets 10% of the transfer fee.
