Nottingham-born Andy Cole finally gets his wish and signs for his boy-hood heroes.
Nottingham Forest have completed the free signing of the veteran striker after the former Newcastle man turned down offers from Burnley and Norwich City.
The 36-year-old was released by
Sunderland at the end of last season and is set to officially sign a 12-month contract at the City Ground next week.
Cole is second top scorer behind Alan Shearer in the history of the Premier League.
He was expected to sign for
Leeds United this week, the club having offered him a two-year contract and a coaching position, but he wants to sign for the club he supported as a boy.

Signed from Bristol City and took the place by storm with his powerful running, superb finishing, and uncanny partnership with Peter Beardsley. Left under a cloud when he was sold to Manchester United and said he was joining a better club. OK, perhaps he was, but we didn't want to hear it. Born in Nottingham. Later played for Blackburn and Fulham.
