Ex-Newcastle midfielder Amady Faye could become Birmingham manager Steve Bruce's fifth summer signing after being given the green light he can leave The Valley.
Faye's agent Willie McKay has confirmed City's interest in the Senegal international who could leave Charlton for around £500,000.

McKay said: "He (Faye) is one of the players Birmingham are looking at. He wants to play in the Premier League and I think Birmingham are going to be alright next season.
"Faye played with Kapo at Auxerre so Birmingham will probably ask him his opinion about Amady and I am sure that will help things."

Defensive midfield player bought from Portsmouth in January 2005 by Graeme Souness, but didn't have a very good first season. He din't score for Newcastle, sitting very deep, probably too deep at times. Souness left and Roeder sold him to Charlton in August 2006.
