Although one newspaper reported that former Toon coach John Carver would be a major part of Alan Shearer's backroom staf SHOULD the GOALden Boy get the Newcastle job ... Carver seems happy enough in Canada.
Carver (talking to the Newcastle Chronicle) said his time in Newcastle last week had nothing to do with a supposed secret meeting with Shearer.

Carver: "Every other management position I have been involved in has been thrust upon me.
"But at Toronto there has been a chance to build things up, here I have been able to lay some foundations."
"I am back in Newcastle on business and hopefully getting some things in place that will improve Toronto next season.
"(I will) return in February to Toronto for pre-season training."
